| | SYMBOLS OF YU, Zlatko Ćosić, 2008, video, 6:00
Symbols of YU is an installation created with an idea to refresh memories
from Yugoslavia, the country I was born and grew up in. The video uses
symbols, monuments, sculptures and other recognizable objects from
the six republics of former Yugoslavia: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia. Hopefully, Symbols
of YU will bring back positive feelings of the life that existed in the
republics before the War in the 1990s. My wish is for all of us, here
or there, to be able to forgive and to realize that we can again live
together embracing our differences and enriching each others’ lives.
